‘Once more’ is the last poem by Sigrid Kingma as Poet of Fryslân. Can also be read today in the Friesch Dagblad, the Leeuwarder Courant and on the Omrop Fryslân website.

Sigrid Kingma: ‘For the last poem as Poet of Fryslân, I asked visitors to my blog what it should be about. The recently flared up conflict between Israel and Palestine could of course not be ignored and overshadowed all other news. You get despondent. It might be better not to read the news for a while, but to read a good book or write something nice yourself.’

On Thursday, November 16 at 4:00 PM, Sigrid Kingma will officially step down as Poet of Fryslân in the Stadkas of the Explore the North festival in Leeuwarden, by appointing the new Poet of Fryslân. Of course you are cordially invited to attend.

Arjan Hut will continue in his role as Poet Laureate of Fryslân through 2026

Arjan Hut will continue in his role as Poet Laureate of Fryslân through 2026. Earlier this year, the Provincial Council of Fryslân approved the extension of his appointment. Consequently, Hut, who was officially designated as Poet Laureate of Fryslân in 2023, will be able to continue his work and projects as the province’s poetic ambassador for one additional year. Among other activities, he will open a walking exhibition he has curated at the literature festival Meet Me at the Lighthouse in November, featuring unique book covers from Frisian poetry collections.
