Dichter fan Fryslân

As Poet of Fryslân, Nyk de Vries wrote a poem for the project ‘Fryslân from above’, which will be written on the beaches of the four Frisian Wadden Islands. The inhabitants of the islands write a stanza on the beach on all four islands.

Next Friday April 24 ‘Fryslân fan Boppen’ will be broadcasted on Omrop Fryslân TV containing the drone images of the islands so that the poem can be read from above. ‘Fryslân from above’ is broadcasted from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and at 9:30 pm. Of course, the images can also be seen via ‘Utstjoering mist’ and via the Facebook page of the Dichter fan Fryslân project.

Arjan Hut will continue in his role as Poet Laureate of Fryslân through 2026. Earlier this year, the Provincial Council of Fryslân approved the extension of his appointment. Consequently, Hut, who was officially designated as Poet Laureate of Fryslân in 2023, will be able to continue his work and projects as the province’s poetic ambassador for one additional year. Among other activities, he will open a walking exhibition he has curated at the literature festival Meet Me at the Lighthouse in November, featuring unique book covers from Frisian poetry collections.
