Poet of Fryslân writes prose poems for Fries Museum exhibition

The Poet of Fryslân, Nyk de Vries, wrote three prose poems for the exhibition ‘Eye to eye with the war’ of the Fries Museum. The video performance of the prose poems’ Illegal, ‘Book’ and ‘Dora’, about his mother, his father and his neighbor in Groningen, respectively, can be viewed on the website of the Fries Museum and below.

 

Exhibition of Frisian poetry book covers: ‘Lytse Ivichheid – Eindeloos Nu’

By the start of the literature festival Meet Me at the Lighthouse, on Thursday 13 November at 15:30, the Poet Laureate of Friesland, Arjan Hut, will open his exhibition ‘Lytse Ivichheid – Eindeloos Nu’ – Frisian poetry books on the outside, from the roaring to the rotting twenties. For this exhibition, the Poet Laureate of Friesland selected 49 cover designs of Frisian poetry books that have been published over the past hundred years.

‘Thunder Overhead’, a new poem by the Poet of Friesland and the City Poet of Leeuwarden

‘Thunder Overhead’ is the latest poem by Arjan Hut as Poet of Friesland, in collaboration with the City Poet of Leeuwarden, Marrit Jellema. Today it can also be read in the Friesch Dagblad, the Leeuwarder Courant and on the website of Omrop Fryslân. Next Sunday the poem will be recited by both laureates during Remembrance Day on 4 May in Leeuwarden.
