Everything’s OK

in the most run-of-the-mill places, in a smile,
in photos, online, they pop up,
that other person, your look-alike
the one who lives your life
the way it should be lived

that stranger, light-hearted, warm and friendly
you as a flourishing star, above yourself

who you heard all of a sudden, late summer
in the blue light, when the guy next door called
everything OK? going back to uni again?
and your doppelganger nodded, yes, in a bit,
yes, everything’s OK.
